SM GUUN Environmental Company, Inc., a joint venture between GUUN Co., Ltd. and SM Prime Holdings, Inc., celebrated its first anniversary on July 19, 2025.

To commemorate this milestone, a special rice distribution ceremony was held on July 31, in which every employee received 5 kilograms of rice, made possible through contributions from the company’s management team.

While Japan is currently facing a serious rice shortage, rice price hikes have also become a major issue in the Philippines. The government has launched a program to sell rice at PHP 20 per kilogram (approximately JPY 52) to low-income households. However, this initiative does not reach our regular employees. Therefore, this program was implemented so that our employees and their families would feel the tangible benefits of working at SM GUUN Environmental Company, Inc.

On the day of the ceremony, the General Manager dispatched from GUUN Co., Ltd. personally handed 5 kilograms of rice to each employee. As a gesture of gratitude, all employees in each work shift came together to chant:

“Happy 1st anniversary, SM GUUN Environmental Company, Daghang Salamat”
(Daghang Salamat means “Thank you very much” in the Cebuano language).
